Ms. Janet Ann McGoy, age 74 of Murphysboro, Illinois, passed away on May 15, 2024, at 11:06 a.m. in Carbondale Memorial Hospital.
Janet was born on June 19, 1949, in Cairo, Illinois, the daughter of Neal Jeffery and Jimmie (Brandon) McGoy whom both proceeded her in death. She was also proceeded in death by two brothers, Lee Andrew McGoy, George Nichols and one infant sister, Yvonne McGoy.
Janet was a 1967 graduate of Sumner High School in Cairo, Illinois. She also attended Eastern Illinois University and Shawnee Community College. Janet worked within several agencies such as Illinois Bell Telephone Company, Illinois Migrant Council, Community Health and Emergency Services (Social Services), Alexander County Department of Public Aid, Cairo Public School District #1, Southern Seven Health Department Head Start and the Illinois Department of Corrections from where she retired in 2011.
